The birth of RIGA, a story of passion

The story begins with a genealogical investigation strewn with pitfalls. Our two investigators measure the complexity of the research on their Armenian family history. Knowledge of the methodology and mastery of research tools are not enough, they come up against major obstacles, including for example:

  • decentralization of archives;

  • the disparity of migratory routes;

  • changing surnames;

  • francization of surnames.


Any test is creative: these two enthusiasts of Armenian genealogy did not admit defeat. They now want to build on their personal experience and offer as many people as possible the possibility of carrying out the investigation in turn. Also, they had the idea of centralizing as many archives as possible relating to Armenians and creating a powerful tool to make them accessible.

The first stage of their creation is the foundation of RIGA: International Relay of Armenian Genealogy.

Our mission

We think finding answers about his and his family's past shouldn't be such a headache. We have been working since 2020 to give you access easily and free to information initially scattered throughout France, and around the world.

Our teams

Currently composed of a hundred volunteers, RIGA acts in several areas:

 

  • The heart of the association, the Genealogy Pole researches and compiles archival data.

  • The HR Department recruits motivated and motivating profiles. This will be your 1st contact before entering the association 😉.

  • The Communication Department is in charge of extending the notoriety of the association.

  • The Finance Department takes care of obtaining subsidies.

  • The Secretariat Department manages all the administration.
